Our Story: How KHARTS Came of Age Just in Time
From a youth art movement to the nonprofit leading children toward resilience in the AI era
Diego, Isabella, and Sofia grew up understanding that art, nature, and animals were not luxuries, but necessities for a full, meaningful life. As children, they created KHARTS (Kids Helping through the Arts): hand-painted art sold to raise funds for animal shelters and child welfare organizations, a children's book they wrote and illustrated ("Coco Knots the Globetrotter"), and a travel blog documenting nature, culture, and connection across continents. Visit our Memory Lane page to see our early projects and our Coco's Travel Blog page.

What we learned:
Connection to creativity, to nature, to each other was the most powerful tool we possessed. As Diego, Isabella, and Sofia completed specialized education in sustainability, psychology, and animal science respectively, they recognized a defining crisis: a generation of children growing up mediated by AI, algorithms, and screens with rising anxiety, declining environmental stewardship, and eroded empathy as the consequence.
KHARTS evolved from art-based fundraising into a comprehensive, evidence-informed nonprofit built around three pillars, designed to provide what algorithms can't.
